The Balloons Fly

Jun 25, 2009 by

We held a gravesite memorial service for Mimi today.
Mother of the Little Black Dress, grandma to the Sons of Thunder.
By 10 a.m., it was already 95 degrees. And the Sons of Thunder were in coats and ties.
Mimi would appreciate that; they didn’t.
At the end, we released two dozen purple ballons – her favorite color – into the air.
And I know Mimi smiled at that.
And that’s all I can say.

My love and my sympathy to each of you.

That would explain the purple balloon that glided by our window! Thinking of you and yours.

I am so glad I met your remarkable mimi before disease robbed her of her spunk and dignity. We are losing my mom, too, and her disease has also robbed her sense of self. It is hard raising kids and losing parents at the same time. My prayers are with you.
