Headlines Show Our Downward Moral Spiral
I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. I will not write about Tiger Woods. Repeat as necessary.
Okay, I lie. Sorta.
No, I’m not adding my two cents. Rather, I’ve pulled a few choice headlines from the myriad of junk floating around the internet.
I’ve come to a few conclusions. Namely, we are losing our moral compass; one’s honor and one’s word take a back seat to one’s pleasure. Secondly, we seem to be losing any sense of shame and embarrassment. And finally, everyone is out to make a buck regardless of whom it hurts.
I am no saint, and it is not my place to judge another. That’s God’s business. But looking at some of these headlines show we are losing all sense of common decency.
Let’s go to the headlines, shall we?

What saddens me the most about this whole “affair” is the focus on the impact to Tiger’s endorsements, his ability to play, how he will get out of this PR disaster. We are forgetting the important things – like a wronged spouse and the impacts on the kids, regardless of their age right now.
But I think we can all learn from this. No one, despite their fame, wealth and gorgeous spouse, is immune. Pray hard.
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Galatians 6:1
Police officer: “Mam, how many times did you say you hit your husband – 3 or 4 times?”
Elin: “Just put me down for 3.”
It does amaze me that a man who, before this news, seemed to have everything so well put together. Played an amazing game of golf, was pretty well composed while golfing, had gobs of endorsements, was on the way to becoming the best golfer EVER, had a beautiful wife and children, was raking in massive amounts of cash… and to then throw it all a way for some action on the side?
It is a shame that the media focus seems to be a bit off target, but then again, the media likes things sensational… why focus on the family values side of things.
I agree…. pray hard.
